Day 2 | DAY 2 KOBLENZ Full board on board. At lunchtime, we will arrive in one of the most beautiful and oldest cities in Germany: Koblenz. The city is located in the world famous "German Corner". The spectacular landscape of four central massifs, vineyards and forests surrounds this town, whose more than two thousand years of existence is reflected in the architectural heritage in the form of marvellous churches and palaces, old aristocratic manor houses and the magnificent manor houses of the gentry. |
Day 3 | DAY 3 MANNHEIM Full board on board. At midday we arrive in Mannheim. Here, in 1817 Karl Drais built the first bicycle in the university town situated between the Rhine and the Neckar and in 1886 the first Carl Benz automobile began to circulate in its streets. Monuments such as the second largest baroque palace in Europe and the Water Tower, in the middle of one of the most beautiful Jugendstil ensembles on the continent, are waiting for you to discover them. We offer you a guided tour of Heidelberg (min. 10 pax), a city popular with lovers and a classic of international tourism. The city offers a dreamlike romance between the Old Bridge and the imposing castle, a first-class cultural and event offer, a gastronomy that is a pleasure for the senses and a magnificent location between the Neckar River and the foothills of the Odenwald Forest. Overnight on board. |
Day 4 | DAY 4 STRASBOURG Full board on board. In the morning we arrive in Strasbourg, the capital of the Alsace region. Guided tour of Strasbourg (min. 10 pax). The historic centre, Grande Île, was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1988 as a clear example of a medieval city. The place where the canals are conglomerated is called the Petite France, a former district of fishermen and millers. Among the attractions of the Petite France are the covered bridges (Ponts-Couverts), a defensive structure with medieval watchtowers and the water regulation system (Barrage Vauban). In addition to the Petite France, the historic centre is home to a large number of interesting monuments, including the cathedral, an imposing building that combines different styles of construction and stands imperiously as a symbol of the city. The Palais Rohan, a majestic palace, houses 3 museums inside. Overnight on board. |
Day 5 | DAY 5 SPEYER / MAINZ Full board on board. Early in the morning we will arrive in Speyer, a city with the largest standing Romanesque cathedral in the world, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1981, in which numerous Holy Roman Emperors are buried. The main city gate (13th century) is one of the highest in Germany. In the afternoon, we will arrive in Mainz, a city with the historical heritage of almost 2000 years. The cityscape is dominated by the Cathedral. In the shadow of the church lies medieval Mainz, where life goes on in the narrow, narrow streets, in the numerous little shops, boutiques and cafés surrounding the wonderful Kirschgarten with its romantic half-timbered houses. In contrast to the lively old town, the panorama of Mainz as seen from the Rhine side seems rather restrained, quiet and even a little strict. It is dominated by two epochs: Modernism with the Town Hall, the Hilton Hotel and the Congress Centre in the Rheingoldhalle, and the Baroque or Renaissance with the Neues Zeughaus (New Arsenal), the Deutschordenshaus and the Palace of the Elector Princes. Evening stopover. Special New Year's Eve dinner. Night on board. |
Day 6 | DAY 6 RÜDESHEIM / BONN Full board on board. After breakfast, we will arrive in Rudesheim, one of the most visited towns in the country. Historical monuments such as the Klunkhardshof, the fortified Adler Tower, the thousand-year-old Brömser Castle or the ruins of Ehrenfels Castle invite you to spend some time here. After dinner we arrive in Bonn, a symbol of post-war growth, diplomacy and democracy. Overnight stopover. Overnight on board. |
Day 7 | DAY 7 BONN / COLOGNE Full board on board. Bonn is a city with a history of more than two thousand years and is known worldwide for having been the capital of Germany until the fall of the Berlin Wall. It is the birthplace of Beethoven and the museum of this famous musician is located here. The old town and its pedestrian area is ideal for strolling, shopping and tasting the typical food of the region or visiting one of its 30 museums. After lunch, we will arrive in Cologne, Germany's oldest city, home to countless cultural and historical treasures, world-famous museums and a varied art scene. Take a journey through 2000 years of history and visit cultural monuments from the time of the Roman Empire to modern times. Guided tour of Cologne (min. 10 pax).
